Agrohomeopathy
Agrohomeopathy is the use of homeopathic remedies on plants. This less commonly known use of homeopathy is gaining more attention as more people become aware of its potential and as we encounter more issues as a result of the changing climate.
Agrohomeopathy is a growing field in many countries and has been very successful. From household plants, to backyard gardens, to whole fields of agricultural crops, homeopathy has a place where there is a need. Everything from plants that are failing to thrive, to diseased plants and plants damaged by environmental factors can be treated with homeopathic remedies.
“Experimental research on healthy and stressed plants has shown the potential of homeopathic treatments to influence plants by enhancing growth parameters, increasing germination rate and defensive substances, and strengthening plants against pathogen and pest attacks.” - https://www.lidsen.com/journals/icm/icm-06-03-020
Because homeopathic remedies are non-toxic and highly effective, plants are very responsive to them. But, as with any homeopathic prescription, the remedy selection for the plant has to be correct for it to work. Selection of a homeopathic remedy for a plant is a very different process from selecting one for an individual person.
Homeopathy has huge potential in the area of Agriculture and helping to overcome the struggles that are being encountered with the changing climate and is a very sustainable option, not only for the plants but also for the farmers and for the bee population; providing an alternative to toxic pesticides and herbicides is of utmost importance to protecting our bees.
“…agro-homeopathy would meet the three pillars of sustainability: (1) economic, due to the very low use of raw materials; (2) environmental, by avoiding the use of chemical substances such as fertilizers, pesticides, etc.; and (3) social, with the production of healthy, safe, and high-quality food.” - https://www.lidsen.com/journals/icm/icm-06-03-020
One research study done in Ecuador, Agronomic behavior of the turnip (Brassica napus L.) during the application of homeopathic medicines [TERRA LATINOAMERICANA VOLUMEN 38 NÚMERO ESPECIAL 1, 2020], concluded:
“The results obtained suggest that agricultural homeopathy has potential in horticulture, since all treatments favorably influenced the response variables during germination, emergence and vegetative development of (Brassica napus L.).”
Another article from India, Agrohomoeopathy- Does Homoeopathy have Role in Agriculture?, published in the Wesleyan Journal of Research, Vol 13 No 40 (November 2020), outlines the success and the importance of using homeopathy in agriculture in India. This well-referenced article writes in the conclusion:
“Many researchers have proved the efficacy of homoeopathy in farming in managing the soil health and improving the growth of the crop as well as in treatment of plants diseases and also providing strength to the plants to tolerate biological and environmental stress.”
As much as the skeptics and detractors of homeopathy like to tout that the positive results obtained in homeopathy studies are due to the placebo effect, this argument cannot be made when it comes to plants, as well as with animals and babies, as they are not subject to the placebo effect. It is clear that the positive effects are due to the influence of the homeopathic remedies and the results are growing…
